AI Menu Generation

Overview

Pickolo can generate your entire menu from photos of your existing physical menu using AI. Take photos of your printed menu, and the AI will extract categories, products, prices, descriptions, ingredients, allergens, additives, labels, and toppings — all automatically.

Important: Do not close the app while the AI is generating your menu. The process runs on your device and will be interrupted if you leave the app.

How It Works

  1. On the Menu page, tap the camera icon at the top to open the AI Menu Generator
  2. Take photos of your physical menu pages — you can add multiple images
  3. Select an AI model (flash-lite for speed, flash for balance, or pro for best quality)
  4. Choose what to generate: Labels are enabled by default. You can also toggle Ingredients, Allergens, Additives, and Toppings/Extras
  5. Tap Generate to start the process

The AI first extracts menu categories from your photos, then generates products for each category with names, descriptions, and prices. If you enabled additional options, it continues to generate ingredients, allergens, additives, labels, and toppings for each product.

During Generation

While the AI works, a progress indicator shows:

  • The current category and product being processed
  • Estimated time remaining
  • A live stream of AI output

The process can take several minutes depending on menu size and the selected AI model. A spinner replaces the close button during generation to indicate work in progress.

Important: Keep the app open and active during the entire generation process. Closing the app or navigating away will interrupt generation and you will lose progress.

Review & Edit

After generation completes, the AI presents the full generated menu for review. Each category shows its products with names, prices, and descriptions.

  • Tap any product to regenerate it if the AI got something wrong — you can provide a hint to guide the regeneration
  • Review all categories and products before importing

Import to Menu

When satisfied with the generated menu, tap the Import button. You will be asked whether to:

  • Import — Add the generated menu alongside your existing menu
  • Overwrite — Replace your current menu entirely with the generated one

After import, the categories and products appear in your regular menu where you can further edit them as needed.

Tip: Start with the flash-lite model for a quick preview. If the results need improvement, try the flash or pro models for better accuracy.
